Zadar, Dalmatia’s capital city, overlooks the Adriatic Sea and still preserves traces of its significant past. Its old town is definitely worth a visit! Roman ruins, medieval churches, palaces and city walls welcome visitors. The city’s main gate dates back to the Venetian period, across the main street stands the Church of St. Donatus, an architectural gem from the Middle Ages. The Cathedral of St. Anastasia in Italian Gothic style (captured by our Zadar live camera) and the ancient Roman Forum dedicated to Emperor Augustus can be seen downtown.
