Originally, a small medieval town inhabited mainly by farmers, today Mosta is one of Malta’s most visited cities. Mosta's main attraction is the Rotunda Church, a magnificent church located downtown.
The Catholic Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, also known as the Rotunda of Mosta, is one of Malta's most historic monuments.
This church, modelled after the Pantheon in Rome, between 1833 and 1860, features a circular building richly decorated and topped by a massive dome which presents a diameter of 37 m. The church is still considered one of the largest in Europe.
